Bondegaard

I am about 5 months behind on this blog! It is okay though! I am going to take the next couple of days and post everything from the last couple of months.

In July, Graham started attending the same school as Olivia. They are both learning Danish and making little friends! Olivia is about fluent in Danish. Graham really just started learning Danish in July when he started. He had picked up a few phrases and words from Olivia and church and a few words I say here and there, but we speak mostly English at home. It is has been interesting watching him learn more and more words since he started going there.

In September, their school, called Hurlumhej- which means hubbub in English, went on a field trip to an old, working farm.

Graham and Olivia really liked the pigs

The kids were obsessed with this pig. They talked about it for days.

Today is Saturday and the temperature is 72 degrees. It is a perfect day for a bike ride to the beach! We live in Østerbro which, on the map below, is just South of Hellerup. Copenhagen downtown is on the map, unmarked, just northeast of Frederiksberg.

We rode our bikes and stopped to get some lunch items. Then we went about 20 minutes North to Charlottenlund beach. It was so packed! There were so many people all along the coast. We had a picnic and then swam in the water and played in the sand for a few hours. The kids had a good time. I did our first swimming lesson of the Summer with Olivia. She was very excited about it!

Swimming area

There is a camping area just behind the beach on top of these old barracks. We planned on camping there this weekend but it was all booked up. We walked around the campgrounds to check it out.

As we walked around, we came across a bride and groom having their pictures taken. Olivia was so excited about the bride. Their backdrop was amazing!

All part of the campgrounds above and then you see the beach in the distance there.

Across the street is Charlottenlund Slot (castle) and gardens.

Cool old building

It was such a fun day and I just can't get over how beautiful Denmark is. There is just so much to do here. We find something new all the time! I LOVE Denmark!

PS- I stole a few pictures off of Google images- thank you.

Swing

Summer

The weather is perfect in Copenhagen right now! It is about 70 - 75 degrees every day- sunny, beautiful! I don't know how long this will last. That must be why me and every other Dane is outside soaking it up every day!
We walked to the beach on Saturday and had a really relaxing time. Well, Matthew and I relaxed. Graham collected rocks for 2 hours and Olivia made new friends and rolled around in the sand. I guess that is their idea of relaxing! It was great!

Flip flop emergency

We went to the beach around 3:30 on Saturday. It was still busy but not crazy like it would have been earlier in the day

Olivia made a little friend who she played with most of the time

I love Denmark in the Summer!!
